Buster the Wonder Dog! 8th November 2009

Buster the Wonder Dog

These photos are from yesterday, when I took Buster for a short walk down to Lough Graney. It had been raining on and off quite hard for a few days and I wasn't able to walk along the side at all. Buster loved it and paddled out and......
Well, I could hardly believe my eyes either!
Is he - walking on water?

OK, I get the feeling you're all a bit sceptical:

Alright, the Fishing Stand was under water!! But Buster didn't seem to mind at all and still walked along it, which is more than I did.

Remember the post at the end of the fishing stand? Well, there it is. Even Buster didn't dare walk along to that.

I tried to pick a time between showers, as it had rained most of the day. I was pretty successful too and the sun came out for the first time that day:

You can see the Fishing Stand in the foreground and the sun shining on the hillside at Flagmount on the other side of the lake.

If you click on this photo, you can see the sun lighting up all the autumnal trees.

As we walked back up the lane, we met Merriman, Kevin the farmer's dog.

Apparently he is 14 now. He's a lovely dog but always gives Buster short shrift. Kevin then drove past in his car, stopping for a chat of course, then carried on up the lane to get a part for his tractor and poor Merriman rushed after the car:

After a while he gave up and played with Buster briefly then went back home where he would remain on guard duty:
Buster and Merriman

This lovely old tractor belong to Philip Dylan, I made this black and white as I thought it suited its age.

There was also a piece of farm machinery in the field, so I took that too:

I thought it looked rather like a giant spider from an old horror movie!

The sky looked spectacular for a short while before the sun went down below the hills.

It looked pink as I reached The Deenery.

I shot these cogs and wheels in Kevin's yard. What do you think, colour?

Or black and white? I prefer the black and white but Jim likes the colour.

It was almost dark by the time I arrived back in the garden. I took some flash photos of the liquidamber leaves on the ground and upped the contrast a bit, to varying degrees.

This one was on the lawn.

I thought they might make rather attractive blank cards.

ABC/ATC A - Z

We have worked our way through the alphabet in this group and have finally, and rather sadly, reached the letter Z. Here is my effort, which is going to Soulbrush:

Z is for Zip or Zipper and of course Zebra. We are going to carry on with another project for Artist Trading Cards in the New Year. Hopefully I will be in my new room by then.

Other Stuff

Jason and Sam's Family

My son Jason has put a couple of new photos on Facebook so I stole some!

Kitty shopping. Look how she's grown! She's almost 6 months already!

Jack with a sparkler.

Jason and Sam had friends for dinner and they had a daughter Nic. (Nicky I presume).

Isn't that just the best photo of childhood friendship? Nic's dad is the gentleman in the photo.

K's daughter Kirsty

To even things up, I have a wonderful photo of my oldest Granddaughter Kirsty:

Isn't she beautiful and just so full of fun. I had a chat with her on Facebook tonight too. More news on the Kirsty front tomorrow.

The Nearly Ending Extension!

Jim and I have been busy sealing the plaster walls in the extension and Jim has been tiling the steps with quarry tiles. I'll photograph them when they are grouted. He's making a super job of them.

We have a couple of colour charts for paint and have had fun picking some schemes for the various rooms. The carpenter will be back tomorrow to carry on, hopefully with a mate this time so progress should be a little quicker.

I hope everyone's had a great weekend.

I believe that Buster can walk on water! I believe. :)
Kitty looks so much like Riley. When they get school age they should become penpals. Kitty is two months older. She can be the wise one.
Ok, your photos are great but tell Jim that the black and white one of the old wheels is better.
I tell you girlfriend, some of your photos are ones I want to paint. :)Bea

Fabulous pictures. I preferred the monochrome cogs - did you try sepia?

Looks a bit better weather. Some great shots, the red leaf on the green grass is an amazing contrast. Glad you liked the pics.

gorgeous photos. I like the wheels in B and W - otherwise the green takes away from the rusty wheels color. And yes, that Buster is quite the little angel dog, isn't he? But showing off by walking on water - now really Buster!!
The Z is awesome, what a totally clever idea!!!

I'm surprised Buster didn't go in for a dip! I wonder if Merriman resents a younger male dog in his neighbourhood. The rusty wheels are great in colour but both shots are good. Gorgeous liquidamber leaves and I love the zippy zebra ATC. The family photos are lovely. Don't work too hard, and that goes for Jim too!

What FANTASTIC pictures. The evening, sunset pictures and Buster's pictures on the water are so cool! And what cute grandkids! I love the picture taken from behind of the kids walking. Very sweet. I've just emerged from the dead to the living. We've had swine flu and the horrible flu with severe ear infections for the last two weeks. I haven't blogged at all, so it's good to be back and catch up on everyone's blogs.

Is that zipper an ATC? Very innovative! Love your photos of the old tractor and farm machinery. Mildred said I should visit you for your ATC's.
