It's A Busy Life Super Things in the Post

Happy Monday

Now I know lots of people don't like Mondays but as I'm retired, I love them - just as much as any other day! Jim has gone off to Ennis to teach his silver surfers how to surf! He really enjoys it. He's found that every one of them loves to see where they live on 'Google Earth'. He also sets up an email for them, which is wonderful for communication with their families and new found internet friends. Bea, get your Mum to read this bit!

Today we are going to move our bed into the newly painted spare bedroom. This will enable us to sort out all the rubbish that has accumulated in the upper level of both rooms at either end of our cottage. They are in the eaves and not very high ceilinged but have useful storage space. Well, if you can move in there, which at the moment you can't.

We will also be able to decorate the rest of the extension and lastly the kitchen/diner which is just disgusting. Jim has to build a cupboard in our 'proper' bedroom to house the outlet from our pellet boiler, which goes up through our bedroom. It is useful in that it gets warm so we haven't needed to use the radiator in there, but it doesn't look very good! He also has to try and build all the bedroom furniture we bought in the UK a couple of years ago. He has assembled one chest of drawers and there's a piece of wood missing at the top of the 3 drawers, so they have an airy hole in them! We're hoping it will turn up in the barn somewhere. Hopefully the rest of the pieces will have everything there.

Post

I received a Christmas card from Heather (Ragged Old Blogger) and in it was a most gorgeous Artist Trading Card. She said she owes me one but I don't think she does, but I'm not complaining!! lol. Just look at this:

Isn't it beautiful? Heather is an amazing seamstress and her blog contains examples of her beautiful work.

This is Heather's blog address if you'd like to take a look.

Mildred over at Nalley Valley and her husband John also sent a Christmas Card - with a difference:
This is their fabulous dog Harriett in her Christmas outfit! Mildred's blog is full of interesting facts about America, plus recipes and other useful information. If you fancy a change, do go and have a look:

I haven't managed to sort out links yet, I need a lesson from Jim!!

Also Mildred enclosed a CD, which she had told me she was posting, with these details:

It is from John's uncle who had an Irish pub in Michigan for 30 years.
His name is Charlie Taylor and he grew up in Detroit, Michigan and trained for grand opera in Milan, Italy.
He recorded with Irish musicians Brian McGowan, Dan Sheehy, Brian Bonner, Art Martin, Larry Larsen and John Brady.
John recorded 7 songs for you to enjoy.

I have only managed a quick listen so far, but the music sounds fun and entertaining. Thank you so much Mildred and John, I am thrilled.

Bloggers are so thoughtful and have brought such pleasure to my life.

More Frost

I woke up to another beautiful frosty morning 2 days ago and took more photos, but I haven't had time to sort them yet. I'll do another post when I have a minute.

Other News

My son Ben and his girlfriend Hayley have just returned from 5 weeks in Thailand. They keep popping photos on Facebook and I rather liked this one:

Soon it'll be back to the bar in Puerto Banus for them and some hard work over Christmas. They are currently in the UK in Derbyshire and have managed to catch up with my daughter's family and of course Ben's Dad and Hayley's family. What a great life they have.

I have mentioned before Jim's 4 rugby league playing Great Nephews. They are, in order of age, Luke, Sam, George and Thomas Burgess (the last 2 are twins). Sam was playing for Bradford Bulls but has been signed by Russell Crowe who runs a team in Sydney, Australia. He obviously had a leaving do in his local club and this is one of the photos from that occasion:

I think a good time was had by all, by the looks of this photo!!

Here we have Julie (Jim's Niece) with her four gorgeous boys. Sam, George, Luke and Thomas (I'm sorry if I have you the wrong way round twins). What a fabulous family she has. Julie's Mum, Jim's sister Val, lives in New Zealand, so I'm sure she'll be able to meet up with Sam occasionally. Sam was interviewed on a tv programme the other day but as it was on Sky we couldn't watch it. If anyone's interested in seeing it, this is the u-tube address:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huZcvAoxZSA

He is a lovely lad. When Russell Crowe telephoned him, Sam thought it was one of his mates messing about! He met up with Russell on the set of Robin Hood with his Mum Julie, who was drooling a bit!! Lucky girl. Julie used to play rugby too!

Oooh, I seem to have changed the font!

Right, I must get on and strip our bed for when Jim returns. Happy Monday everyone.

Glad you like the ATC Gina, but after all your praise I feel nervous that anyone checking me out will be disappointed - I haven't been up to speed lately. Lovely pics of your young relatives - they look as if they know how to enjoy themselves. Don't work too hard or you and Jim will be too tired to enjoy Christmas.

Thank Lisa.

Hiya Soulbrush. We don't buy pressies for all the family! Once they grow up that is! Now it's pressies for Grandchildren. It's been frosty a couple of mornings but now it's mild again.

We now have our bed in the spare bedroom Mildred. I hope we sleep ok tonight! I'm glad you enjoyed the photos.

Hello Heather. I have your ATC in my 'on view' holder! I'm sure anyone visiting will love your blog! How's the new rug going?

Hi Bea. Isn't it fabulous for Sam. He is very talented though. The best of the brothers. I can't work out all my family, let alone anyone else!! lol.

Hi K, glad you enjoyed. Sam's a bit of alright isn't he?? lol.

Hi Carol, Ben's been before so knows quite a few places and he has a friend who lives there too.
