Red Squirrel
Red Squirrel eating a nut.
There we were eating our breakfast when I spotted a red squirrel on the bird nuts in the orchard. It was being harassed by a magpie and soon disappeared into the conifers.
Later on, Jim called from our bedroom and it was back on the other bird nuts, so I ran for the camera and Jim snapped away. The light was very bright but he managed some good ones:
Look at that fabulous tail.
Hi ears had little tufts on the top.
'Who's there?'
Making a break for it
Peering through the gap in the tree
He went back to the nuts, hanging upside down like a bird:
We have only ever had one in the garden before and we have seen them in Dillon's wood too, but rarely. They are so lovely.
Down the Rabbit Hole Challenge Part 4 - 2nd Piece:
I really disliked the shape it was before, so cut the ends of, rearranged them and added them to the centre. They look like eyes now.
BlackJack came to investigate!! He's so helpful. I'd already had to remove Buster.
It can be either way up.
Jim and Buster
Jim was having a 'moment' with Buster:
Buster's wound - healing well.
It was too hot for him in the sun!
Have a great Sunday everyone. I'm off into the garden.

omgosh, poor Buster! Wonderful about the red squirrel, SO few seen nowadays here, such a shame it was bullied out by the greys. I remember seeing red squizzels at Thetford :D
Good to see Jim using his old slippers for garden walkers now he has the new ones for indoors! xxx
Only grey ones around here. Dinner for the Red Tail Hawks. Love your little red one. Great piece. :)Bea
How exciting to have a red squirrel in the garden - great photos. Love your Down the Rabbit Hole piece. Poor old Buster - that's a nasty wound. He's obviously getting plenty of TLC.
How fabulous! I've never seen a red squirrel in life before. Um... and still haven't.
I am so jealous about the red squirrel, I don't think that I have ever seen one in the flesh, or should that be in the fur.

Wonderful red squirrel Gina. Glad Buster is healing well. Lovely smily Jim - so happiness all round.
Thank you for all the lovely comments. My red squirrel was obvously a big hit. I've emailed everyone.
I am so glad to hear Buster is doing well, poor guy. And I think I like your number 2 piece even more than the first!!!
Squirreltastic!
xx
I love the art piece, it's really wonderful...and glad to see poor little buster is better.
You have certainly brought around the art piece. It is coming along beautifully. The Red Squirrel is a darling as is Buster. Poor fellow. I hope he doesn't run into the meanie that bit him any time soon.
Hi Melissa, Buster seems so much better now thank you. I'm glad you like my 2nd piece more - so do I!
Love it Jason.
Thank you - that means a lot coming from you.
Lisa, you are too kind. We think we know who bit Buster. A new male (not neutered) lab cross was around here a lot lately and seems to have upset the doggy equilibrium. I gather he was a rescue dog and it seems he may have been taken back. We haven't seen him for several days now.
I LOVE that red squirrel. How fun to have had a visit by him/her.
We only have gray ones.
Fantastic pictures of the Red Squrrel - what a wonderful visitor.

Such adorable photos of the Squirrel. I love him peering through the tree at you.
Poor Buster. I hope he continues to heal well.
Wishing you a lovely week.
Hi Cris, we mostly had grey in the UK. I only saw red ones in Scotland. They are so pretty.
Thank you OGL! I hope he comes back again.
Hi Alaura, he thought he could get an easy meal I think! The sun's still shining here. Amazing.
Thank you Mildred, Buster is almost back to normal and his wound is much better thank you. Enjoy your week.
Beautiful red squirrel!
